Future

I feel like all around me, people are getting more and more excited for "the future" and what will come with it. Whether the future be the latest technology or the new and improved government, I don't think I'm excited for it. It's not like I'm saying what happened in past years was a successful lifestyle, but I do think they sufficed, and right now- we're more than sufficing.
You know we have a problem when someone steals your upgrade to get an iPhone 6 (and soon to be iPhone 80). I just think that with as many people starving and lacking an education, the last thing society needs to do is upgrade their phone or data plan.
Apple came out with the first iPhone in 2007. Since then, they've released 9 more. Why? But for any reason, I'm not convinced. Apple has a net worth of 63 billion dollars (Net worth (sometimes called net or wealth) is the total assets minus total outside liabilities of an individual or a company. Net worth is used when talking about the value of a company or in personal finance for an individual's net economic position. Put another way, net worth is what is owned minus what is owed). Why they spend it on making more "i-products" instead of curing cancer, feeding the hungry, or giving education to those who don't is beyond me. But enough with Apple.
My fear is we become the society of Fahrenheit 451. One that avoids awkward situations by going on their phones. I don't like what we have already become, and I fear it's getting worse.
Until next time,
Emma
